The Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program consists of 127.5 total hours of theory/lab practice and clinical experience. The course is designed to provide students with appropriate skills and knowledge to be able to assist with patient care and to function effectively as members of a nursing team, under the supervision of professionals.

Free BNA classes are offered through New Start on NLEI campus. The program is 17 days long. BNA students after graduating are able to sit for the CNA exam administered by the state of Illinois.

Nursing Assistant is one of the 50 occupations expected to have the largest number of job openings and new jobs in Illinois. This growth is due to the increase in long-term care facilities that serve an increasingly older population.
