Financial Analyst-1800011383

The Financial Analyst is accountable to support the reporting function on the overall financial performance and condition of BMO US and its pillar businesses. This role will provide value added ideas, advice and recommendations on reporting process enhancements, including future course of action to support strategic decision making within BMO US. This role will support the month-end closing process including regulatory, board and external reporting.


A. Business Delivery & Operational Effectiveness
• Participate in preparation of presentation materials for Executive management and Board reporting.
• Prepare and review standard financial reporting packages on monthly and quarterly basis to support BFC, BHB and US Segment legal close process. Includes comparisons to prior periods, plans, key KPIs and rate volume analysis.
• Prepare/support preparation of monthly Financial Statements in accordance with GAAP and within agreed upon timelines, reviewing all information against budget and back-ups to check for reasonableness, escalating any areas of concern and making amendments, if necessary.
• Support the team to ensure accurate, timely and relevant information and reporting of financial results of BFC, BHB and U.S. Segment to senior leadership, management and the executive board.
B. Client & Relationship Management
• Participate on projects to ensure financial information is reported completely and accurately
• Build strong relationships and provide value add advice to clients to ensure financial results are well understood and business results optimized
• Support business group financial performance management activities, providing business group decision makers with financial information, advice and counsel
C. Risk Management & Control
• Provide attestation to the validity of financial results and highlight significant information including variances, trends, opportunities and exposures to the Manager/Senior Manager, Financial Performance Management
• Provide information and support the process for internal (Corporate and SOX) and external audits ensuring that requests are managed effectively and efficiently
• Complete / support the completion of all regulatory and external reporting requirements ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information
D. Change & Innovation
• Optimize the use of new technology and information systems updates to improve processes and system efficiencies
E. Managerial Leadership
• Manage relationship with other groups within Finance and with FPM management
• Undergraduate University Degree with major in Accounting, Finance, or Information Management, plus 2 to 5 years of experience broken out between public and private accounting is preferred. Prior experience in Banking preferred.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong Excel/Essbase/Powerpoint skills to pull and analyze data in the most efficient manner
• Strong Accounting skills
• Knowledge of the financial services industry a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet timelines, without compromising the integrity of the information.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service and client focus.
